Practice, practice and more practice are key to learning Spanish. Our professors ensure that you practice your Spanish conversation in class and they give you the confidence to practice your Spanish outside of class as well!
We use our own textbooks, written by our own teachers but the topics of conversation vary according to the group's interests. You are certain to learn more about the culture, current events, history and more.

The contents.
In both Argentina and Chile, our program is divided into twelve class levels.
The first eight levels concentrate on conversation, grammar, vocabulary and practical situations. The last levels, advanced and superior, focus mainly on conversation and advanced reading and writing topics. A student can expect to advance through each of the first eight levels in two weeks each while the advanced course can be taken for several months.

Beginning Spanish

An introduction to the Spanish language, including grammar, vocabulary, expressions, and common situations. The fundamentals of Spanish are developed through listening, speaking, reading and writing. Practice in pronunciation and development of comprehension. |
Intermediate Spanish
|
These courses further develop Spanish language skills, including a rapid review of components learned in Beginning Spanish. Advanced topics such as uses of the subjunctive and ser vs. estar are studied in greater detail. Conversational and reading/writing abilities are continually enhanced through exercises and situational practice. |
Advanced Spanish
|
These courses aim to perfect the language capabilities of advanced language students. Grammatical instruction consolidates previous learned subjects with careful review to areas of difficulty. Further effort is placed on developing a richer vocabulary, more advanced oral and written capabilities, and a command of idioms. A large portion of the class is devoted to conversational skills. |

Our Teachers
All of our teachers are native speakers with university degrees and have experience teaching Spanish to foreigners. Most have learned a second language themselves and understand the student's perspective. They are devoted to helping students best reach their goals and to keeping the classes enjoyable and entertaining.
Tutorial Sessions
Extra language assistance provided to students to help them work on problem areas. Every day a teacher is available full time to assist students in specific topics they need extra attention, reading suggestions, questions related to homework, etc. This is an extra value service, not comparable to private instruction but definitely beneficial to provide all the students maximum support.
Materials
At ECELA we use our own text, developed by a team of our teachers. This text is used for about half of the class, while the other half of the class is devoted to special class needs and the use of supplemental information such as selected audios, videos, and “current events” materials. |
