When to Go:
You can visit Bariloche year round. Summer sports such as, trekking, climbing, horseback riding, bicycle tours and other warm weather activities draw visitors to the region as much as the winter ski season does.

- Skiing / Snowboarding – The Cerro Catedral mountain resort has built up a large infrastructure to provide ample possibilities for Bariloche´s winter season. There are 2.000 hectares (5.000 acres) of ski slopes with 67 Km of trails (30% beginner, 40% intermediate and 25% advanced).
- Cross Country Skiing – At Piedras Blancas and Cerro Otto, cross country ski through beautiful forests.
- Golf - Bariloche has two golf courses for the lovers of this sport; Llao Llao and Arelauquen.
- Fishing - There are areas set aside for fly fishing, spinning and trolling. The lake and river systems of Patagonia have become world known for the quality of sport fishing.

- Rafting – Rafting down rivers of varying difficulty is an excellent alternative and the whole family can join.
- Horseback Riding - There are several interesting areas and this is a great way to explore the different plains, valleys and mountains around Bariloche.
- Mountain Biking – The interesting geography and varied road system make this an ideal area to ride through its spectacular scenery and massive forest that offer no end of possibilities.
- Trekking - There are many trails of different difficulties and length that allow you to come in close contact with nature.

- National Snow Festival - This major event constitutes a truly international sporting, artistic and social event. Includes: National Snow Queen Contest, Axemans Contest, Waiters Race, Pullover Contest and Foreign Communities Festival.
- Shopping - The local shop windows overflow with handcrafts, chocolate, jams, knitted wear and a variety of souvenirs.
- Victoria Island and Arrayán Forest Tour - On the island you go through the unique arrayán forest and you can see several native bird species.
- Mount Tronador and Los Alerces Waterfall - Tronador is the highest peak in the area 3,554 m.

- El Bolson and Lago Puelo - Go through small farms of wheat, corn, cherry, raspberry, apple and hops to arrive at the splendid turquoise Puelo Lake.
- The Patagonian Express, El Bolson Farms – Visit El Maiten and Leleque via train. The train is made up of two old steam engines, one wagon for the diesel fuel and two passenger cars.
- Villa la Angostura - Picturesque mountain village surrounded by dense forest and impressive snow capped mountains.
- Civic Center - Handsomely built by Ernesto Estrada in 1940 using the local wood and stone.
- Multiple Cultural Activities Hall – It is a centrally located hall for varied artistic and cultural exhibitions.
- House of Native Handcraft - Helping to keep their Mapuche culture alive, the native craftsmen association exhibits their spinning and weaving here.

Gastronomy
If you are interested in good eating, Bariloche is the place for you. With a wide variety of places to eat including: restaurants, barbecues, smoked meat houses, pasta and pizza places, and pubs. Desserts are also a local specialty, especially the numberless variety of chocolates.
Night Life
Bariloche also has very lively nightlife. Whether you are interested in dining, dancing or listening to music, Bariloche has plenty of great choices. There are a handful of discos catering to the 20- to 30-year-old crowd. These discos adhere to Buenos Aires nightlife hours, beginning around midnight or 12:30am, with the peak of the evening at about 3 or 4am. The nightlife is huge and you can also visit the brewpubs or the casino. |
